Steve Carell Considers Enlisting in 'Adventures'

Steve Carell could be heading off to war soon. "The Office" star is attached to star in the comedy "The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard," about a French soldier during the Napoleonic wars, report the trades.

The Media Rights Capital period comedy based on a series of short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle (of Sherlock Holmes fame) centers on Etienne Gerard, a rather deluded Hussar in the French Army who is convinced that he's the bravest soldier, greatest swordsman, accomplished horseman and gallant lover in all France.

"King of the Hill" writers John Altshuler and David Krinsky are adapting the stories.

"Brigadier Gerard" is among a few movies, including "Get Smart 2" and "Date Night" that Carell is considering shooting during his hiatus after the fifth season of "The Office" wraps.
