"Get Smart" star Anne Hathaway is expected to star in the Warner Brothers romantic comedy "The Fiance." Set up through Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot's Offspring Entertainment, "The Fiance" will be directed by Burr Steers and will begin production in March, according to Variety.
"The Fiance" was originally written by Dyanne Stempel and Jennifer Robinson, though "Tropic Thunder" scribe Etan Cohen is working on a rewrite.
In the comedy, Hathaway plays a woman who breaks off her engagement to what seems to be a perfect man only to see her parents work overtime to get them back together.
It behooves Warner Brothers to get going on "The Fiance," since the studio hopes to have the busy Hathaway ready to re-team with Steve Carell on a "Get Smart" sequel.
Hathaway is currently starring in "Rachel Getting Married," with "Passengers" and "Bride Wars" on tap. She also just signed on for a small role in Tim Burton's new "Alice in Wonderland."
