High-school student Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), always a bit of a misfit, doesn't expect life to change much when she moves from sunny Arizona to rainy Washington state. Then she meets Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a handsome but mysterious teen whose eyes seem to peer directly into her soul. Edward is a vampire whose family does not drink blood, and Bella, far from being frightened, enters into a dangerous romance with her immortal soulmate.

Prefered the books, but movie was decent

replying to the baseball in the rain comment, the only time they can play baseball is when it is raining, because their swings are so loud they crack like thunder. they play baseball because it is probbably the most sensible sport for vampires to play.

The movie in of itself was good - my daughter who has not read the book enjoyed it and wished it was longer. Now that I have had time to think about it - I am not sure how I feel and need to see it again.
I am a purist and believe that a movie should follow the book. The author took time to write a story that has captivated its audience - so the movie director should respect this audience by giving them the same. I can understand with the depth of this book that it would be challenging since a lot of the story is based on internal dialogue and feelings. I have read a lot of books in my time, but this is the first time that I have read a book/series back-to-back more than once (I’m reading it for the 3rd time). I appreciated that they used a lot of the spoken dialogue from the book, but did not like how much they deviated from the story. I hope that they will take the necessary time to make next movie so that it will be longer and sticks with the true story.

Good, But I had higher expectations.

I am a huge fan of the saga. I expected Twilight the movie to be much more detailed and explained. For someone who has read the series, I think I'm speaking for all when I say that it was not near as good as the books. If you were to watch the movie, before reading the books, you would love it. Great movie for families or teens mainly. I highly recommend it, just don't expect it to be as good as the books, because the books are outstanding. The actors/actresses played great roles and I think they all matched their characters perfectly. The biggest downfall was the lack detail, and it felt 'rushed'. Especially the meadow scene, that is one of my favourite scenes in the book, and it just failed for me. It was all rushed and not at all the the book. My final comment is that I liked it just because I love the series, I will definitely purchase the movie when it comes out on DVD, but I expected more out of it. I am praying they will do better with New Moon in 2009.

It was pretty good

4

I think it was pretty good. There were somethings that were left out and things like that but I still think it was pretty good.

NO

It, might be because i got forced into seeing this movie, but it was terrible, it was all over the place, the first 3/4 of the movie didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Terrible cast along with poor acting. Why were they playing baseball in the rain? That seen was a huge waste of money.

Here it is...

I LOVED it!!! BUT it was a lot diff than the book!! Which IS to be EXPECTED because its from two complete different people. There's a lot that they left out and a lot of things they added that were not in the book.
But it does not really matter, because if you are a TRUE FAN of twilight saga you will LOVE THIS movie

Absolutely addicticve

I seen the movie on opening night, before I ever read the books. I didnt really know much about the books besides what my younger sister told me about them (she loved them). anyways after watching the movie I instantly fell in love with edward and bella.
That night I went home and started to read twilight, yes I thought the books were better only because you felt how strong they loved eachother much more than in the movie, but I can understand, seeing how it is geered towards a younger audience. All in all I thought the movie was great and seen it 3 times, and probably will see it again. The music was ammmazing ( I also bought the soundtrack :)) The movie left me wanting more, and I hope new moon is even better, I dont think i can wait until 2010 to see it.
I am now a die hard twilight fan.. it blows my mind when I hear people say that it sucked, it's pretty much the best love story I've ever seen and I've seen alot of movies.
ps. edward cullen is absolutely beautiful in the movie, not so much in real life.. but i can look past that lol.

If you're a fangirl..!

Yes, many a man say that the recent movie, "Twilight", was a complete dud, and not to watch it. But, for those girls who have read the books, and are entranced in the story of Edward, the heroric yet tortured vampire, and Bella, the clumsy girl from Phoenix, Arizona, will absolutely love it. Many of the girls who have read this books, have said that they will not watch it, for it will ruin the books for them, they'll never think of the books they love in the same way, but I have to say, you're wrong. I am in love will the series, and the movie was completely perfect. (aside from Kristen Stewart of course) I screamed with delight when I say the Cullens entered the cafeteria, and I cried when Edward sucked the venom out of Bella's arm. And, I have to admit, I was one of the people who vowed to never see the movie, but I loved it. And all of you out there, who are fans of the saga, and are fooling yourselfs by thinking the movie is horrible, you're wrong! So please, please, stop kidding yourselves, and go see the movie, you'll love it! But all those men out there who are not interested in a romance and having to sit in a theatre with girls screaming and gasping for air, don't go, unless you want to pay 15.00 for an uncomfortable nap.

WELL........

i love the music. i love the cast. the acting wasn't awsome.
i think a lot of people had higher expectations but Summit Entertainment is a small company. and i think edward should have been more serious and stuff...
anyway i still loved it. please do a better job on new moon, since you have enough money!

If I could give it 0 stars I would

1

Acting = awful. painfully awful. awkward.
Casting = Carlisle? Rosalie? Jacob? I could go on. The casting was so disappointing. And since when is Fork, Washington - population 3000 - more multicultural than Halifax? I just found it so unrealistic.
Screenplay adaptatation = awful.
If I could rate this movie 0 stars I would.
That being said - it was somewhat entertaining in it's awfulness.

Thought it was very well done

4

I have read the books and thought that they were amazing! Movie was not as good but I saw it twice- definitely better the second time because you can get past all of your high expectations! Appreciate the movie for what it is- a love story! I thought that all of the characters were very well portrayed with the exception being Jasper. He grew on me once he stopped looking so pained. This was around the baseball scene. I recommend this movie who appreciates a great love story!

mehh.

It was good, but the books are much, much better.
The movie was very disappointing.

AMAZING ,

5

I LOVED THE BOOKS .
AND THE MOVIE EXCEPT THEY LEFT OUT SOME PARTS ,
BUT THAT WAS FINEEE ! :)
I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN THE MOST !
PLEASE MAKE MORE BOOKS AND MORE MOVIES.

Twilight was very well done

I love the books. The movie was great but disapointing if you compare the two. The only thing that bugged me about the movie was that they never did the scene where Bella faints during the science class from the blood. and I am absolutely inlove with Robert Pattinson.

AMAZING

wow !!!! twilight was officially the best movie i have ever seen my life !!!! , i dont know how anybody could say it was horrible, its actually not that romantic, it does have romance in it, but there is a load of action and suspense !, hahaha, i think its a good movie for boys and girls,i realiee like how she got to tell us her thoughts and feelings like in the book. it was a long movie but it was worth it !,
so trust me if you look at this and you know you dont like twilight , then just see the movie, you wont regret it !, by the time you see the movie, you would die to read the books !!!!, TO ME, ITS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO THIS WORLD !!!! and thats coming from the heart ! (L)

and PS - i do agree that edward was a bit too funny ..

OMG!!!! TWILIGHT

5

It was actually really good if you do not compare it to the book..... but if u do they don't really match up pretty good. i was pretty disapointed to see that they cut out most of the book... BUT I STILL LOVED IT IT WAS ACTUALLY AWESOME! I WOULD WATCH IT AGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!<3

Twillllight!

I thought that what they had to work with money wise, and the amount of time they had they did an amazing job.
The characters fit my description the best they could and I thought that every actor did a very good job portraying the character they were insisted to play.
I liked how they made the movie more comical than the novel gaining people who haven't read the saga's interests which I thought was a good touch, though the scenes went quickly some filiming was sloppy and it was a little choppy I thought the overall performance deserves a good rating!
I thought Kristen did an AMAZING job playing Bella Swan, the action sequence was brilliant! I also thought that Robert did a terrific job concluding Edward as a real person, he was tres beautiful and did very well!
I would reccommend, and I'm going to see it again tonight!
**** NO ONE CAN EXPECT MUCH OF A NOT VERY POPULAR COMPANY, NOT MUCH MONEY, AND A FIRST TIME EFFORT DO NOT TRY AND COMPARE TO BOOKS THE MOVIE IS NEVER BETTER THAN THE BOOKS ****
A true fan of this work should enjoy it as much as most did :)
Thank-you!

My conclusion from the movie...

3

I am a 27 year old married woman. I read all four books last month, and re-read the first book again last week to refresh. I loved them through and through, even though they were primarily based for teens/pre-teens. My first thought when the movie finished was that I hated it. My friend (who read the books and saw the movie with me) and I were talking about how bad the movie was, and talked about how disappointed we were that the details that were important to us were left out, or seemed to be rushed through. The more we thought about it, the more we came to the realization that it was not a horrible movie, but just set for a different target audience then us.

Once we thought of it like that everything made sense! Stephanie Meyer did an AMAZING job of giving the pre-teens/teens what they wanted AS WELL as what we the adult reader wanted from it. The younger readers are more likely to skim through the "boring" details, where the older reader (atleast myself anyway) would soak them right up, wanting to know everything I could about each character, dates, looks etc. Although the cast was good looking (and probably more glamorous to a younger watcher), they were not what I was expecting from the books. The descriptions from the books made the vampires to be WAY more glamorous and they just didn't cut it for me. The movie seemed to only give what the younger audience was looking for, with little or no consideration for the adult audience. I'm not saying that there were no things in common to both teen/adult readers, but most things that are important to me from the series I'm sure is not what the younger audience reads/watches for.

It seemed like the movie dialog was plenty different then the book (a few direct quotes from the book), and the scenes were ALL very short. I was disappointed with the way they did the meadow scene, which was glorious in the book. The important points were barely touched upon, or changed just slightly and kept VERY short. I know they did that to keep the young audience with it and once I realized that point, I think I began to like the movie a little better. I also totally understand why they did that; the younger audience is more likely to buy the Twilight Merchandise, books, movies etc and when it all comes down to it, it's about making the money isn't it? All in all, it wasn't a bad movie, I was just not in the right target audience!

AHHHHH ! <3 :D

OMG !!!
it was the best movie i have ever seen in my whole entire life, you will love it ssssooooo MUCH ! I highly reccomend it ! The books are awesome too ! I am going to watch this movie like 86 times it was so good ! I love it soo much ! EDWARD CULLEN ILOVEYU! it was such a good movie and really good books too ! OMG the acting wasn't bad, people weren't laughing because of the acting they were laughing because of how sweet it was ! It was very sweet and i loved all the characters, it was so intense ! ILOVEIT SOOOOOO MUCH ! AHHHHHHHHHHH <3 :D

WOW

Okay, I admit some of the flying scenes were ...bad. BUT, I enjoyed the character choice, and I loved how they got in every major thing in the book. However I wished some scenes were longer then others. I found the movie was very quick.

I loved the acting, and I found the setting was the book come to life, everything I imagined while reading the book, took place in the movie.

well done. I look forward to New moon.

~DEFINITELY GO TO SEE IT! ****

If you love the Twilight saga, then this is a movie for you. Even if you dont like them, you should still go. Its a great movie, although it was a bit choppy at times, and there was a few scenes cut out. But the music, and shots were excellent.
I recomend everyone go see this movie !!!
I went Thursday night at 10PM, the theatre was packed. And everyone enjoyed the film. So, what are you still doing here?? Go see it now! :)

Can't wait until it comes out on DVD, cause i will totally be one of the first people to get it!
+ I can't wait until the New Moon movie comes out! hopefully next year some time -fingers crossed-

Twilight was an epic movie! If you're a fan of the book series, then the differences aren't going to matter, no matter how big the differences. If you have never heard of, or read the books, i'd still recommend the movie. It may be a little strange, and very teen angsty, but with hott vampires, hott humans, and some comedy moments (many of the comedtic moments will only apply to fans of the books), you can have a great time on a date. The acting was amazing. Acting like a gorgeous immortal vampire can't be easy, but all the vampires did amazing jobs. Robert Pattinson as Edward was probably nobody's choice Edward, but he brings the character to life in a way no one else could. and we come to our heroine, Bella. Kristen Stewart's acting, although at moments more angry than in love, still fit the character, and i am happy that she was chosen. She has the look that was needed.

Omg !!

Everyone loved it the acting was awesome and i dont see how people can hate it. I read all the books and i found they were both the best! I would recomend it 100%

Actually...it was a good movie!!

I'm 42 and I took 6 teenagers mainly around the age of 16, 5 girls and 1 guy. We all enjoyed the movie and although people try and compare it to the book(which they read, I didn't), one can never expect it to be exactly like the book as sometimes that doesn't make for a "good movie". All I can say is that I know I will see the next one and that it was a nice movie to sit back, relax and enjoy my popcorn and pop! All 6 teenagers enjoyed it and were not disappointed. I find when there is too much hype going into the movie, one is often disappointed. It's like meeting somebody after you saw their picture on a dating site (not that I've done that or anything...lol).

THIS MOVIE WAS AMAZING

5

Hands down, best movie of my life. I Would watch it maybe 18 times, my sisters boyfriend loved it, my sister did, my MOM did, and i was in heaven. I recommend EVERYONE see it. the only disappointing thing, it cut into the second book. but i was amazed. Period.

I loved it.

5

I'm really happy with how the movie came out. I've read the books so it was pretty disappointing at some points and they kind of rushed through the EDWARDxBELLA parts. I thought I was going to die when Edward kissed Bella and she responded. I would definitely recommend the movie to others. I get to go see it again next weekend because it's my mom' birthday and my sister and I are taking her to see Twilight. YAY!!!!

OMG!!!

5
